Our Story

The Agent Banking Company (ABC) was established with a clear mission: to bridge the gap in financial services across Uganda by making them more accessible, affordable, and secure for everyone. Since our inception, we have been committed to revolutionizing the way financial services are delivered, particularly in underbanked and underserved communities.

As a licensed Payment System Operator by the Bank of Uganda, we provide the essential infrastructure that enables financial institutions to offer seamless banking services through a network of agents across the country.

Our Purpose

We believe that financial services should be within reach of every Ugandan, regardless of where they are. By leveraging innovative technology, partnerships, and a deep understanding of the market, we aim to make financial inclusion a reality for millions of people.

At ABC, our purpose is simple but profound: to transform Uganda’s financial ecosystem by empowering financial institutions, customers, businesses, agents, and merchants through our integrated financial services platform that enhances access, reduces costs, and ensures security of financial services.

Our Achievements

Over the years, ABC has made remarkable strides in enhancing financial inclusion in Uganda. Our platform, the Shared Agent Banking System (SABS), has been pivotal in transforming the agent banking model by consolidating multiple service providers into a single, easy-to-use system.

Through SABS, we have been able to:

Build a Nationwide Network of Agents: ABC has empowered over 15,000 agents to offer a wide range of financial services to Ugandans across the country, significantly increasing access points in both urban and rural areas.
Facilitate Over 50 Million Transactions: Since launching our platform, we have processed millions of secure transactions, making financial services more convenient for both individuals and businesses.
Reduce the Cost of Financial Services: By integrating financial services and eliminating redundancies, we have helped institutions and merchants lower their operational costs by over 60%, which has, in turn, reduced the cost burden on customers.
Strengthen Fraud Prevention: Our advanced fraud prevention systems, including the recently launched Fraud Guard System, have greatly enhanced security in digital and agent-based financial transactions, restoring customer trust in financial services.
