Our Purpose
Driving Financial Inclusion in Uganda
Founded in 2017 by the Uganda Bankers Association, the Agent Banking Company (ABC) is a licensed Payment Systems Operator, regulated by the Bank of Uganda. Our mission is to provide quality, secure, affordable, and accessible financial services to all Ugandans, with a focus on reaching rural areas and supporting key sectors such as agriculture, services, and trade.
Through our flagship Shared Agent Banking System (SABS), we’ve enhanced customer experience and lowered the costs of accessing financial services. As of 2023, over 60% of bank transactions by volume occur at over 15,000 agent outlets countrywide, with costs to customers dropping by over 50%.
As we evolve, ABC is transitioning into a comprehensive financial services platform, offering mobile, web, agent, and merchant channels to provide a seamless and integrated experience.
